Quebec Quarter is adjacent to Russia Dock Woodland, an award-winning eco park created in the 1980s from the former Russia Dock. The park is considered one of the area’s best kept secrets, and it provides a leafy, relaxed backdrop to the development.
Surrounded by all this greenery you could be forgiven for forgetting you’re in zone 2, with plenty to do in the immediate area. Nearby Surrey Quays shopping centre has high street stores, a supermarket and cafes, plus a cinema complex. Greenland Dock and South Dock are attractive waterside areas, home to a marina and the Surrey Docks Watersports Centre, which offers kayaking, sailing, powerboating, rowing and windsurfing, as well as a state-of-the-art gym and exercise classes.
Canada Water is just minutes from London’s busiest and most intoxicating districts. Go east for two minutes on the Jubilees line and you are in Canary Wharf, with its iconic skyline, public spaces hosting a fascinating programme of arts and events, and over 300 shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
Head west and in just three minutes you are in London Bridge, the southern gateway to the City of London, one of the world’s greatest financial centres.
Closer still is trendy Bermondsey, with excellent restaurants, pubs, bars and cafes, plus the popular Maltby Street Market with its specialty food and drink stalls.
